Week 9 Midweek Fantasy Basketball Waiver Picks: 9 Players to Win Your Matchup

All nine players play three games in four nights, volume over talent this week

Good to be back for the midweek fantasy basketball waiver picks in Week 9. This season is flying by, and this one turned into a special case because of the weird Cup schedule, so this article is all about making the most of what’s left.

Here’s the common theme with all the players below: every single one of them is playing three games over the next four nights. In a week like this, that matters more than talent alone. Some of these guys are short-term streams, some might give you long-term headaches because you’ll actually consider holding them. Either way, volume is king right now.

Let’s get into it.

Zaccharie Risacher, Hawks

The number-one pick hasn’t exactly lit the league on fire yet, and yeah, that’s been disappointing. Still, the signs are there. Over the past week he’s averaging about 1.5 threes and two steals per game, which is already useful in category leagues. The Hawks clearly want him playing through mistakes, and once the rhythm comes, his value jumps quickly. If you need threes and steals and can stomach some rookie inconsistency, this is a good time to grab him. I still believe it’s only a matter of time before he becomes must-roster.

Vít Krejčí, Hawks

Krejčí is the definition of a quiet glue guy. He doesn’t jump off the screen, but the production has been legit. Over the past couple of weeks he’s close to four threes a game, around 14 points, almost two steals, and all of that on an absurd 57% from the field. That’s not easy to find on the wire. He won’t dominate usage, but if you need efficient scoring, threes, and steals without hurting percentages, don’t hesitate.

Steven Adams, Rockets

Adams isn’t the first name I’d click on waivers, but context matters. If you’re chasing rebounds and a bit of rim protection, he still has value. He’s even logged a 30-minute game recently, which tells you the Rockets are willing to lean on him in certain matchups. He won’t score, but he helps FG% and boards, and in a low-volume week that can swing categories. Not exciting, but useful in the right build.

Maxime Raynaud, Kings

Raynaud keeps proving he belongs. With Sabonis injured and likely out for the rest of the week, Raynaud has solidified himself as a real rotation player. Over the past two weeks he’s averaging about 12 points, over eight rebounds, and close to a block. If you need a center and he’s still available, don’t overthink it. As long as Sabonis is out, Raynaud is one of the safer adds on the board.

Harrison Barnes, Spurs

Need stability? Barnes is your guy. Even with Wembanyama expected back soon, Barnes is still playing 25+ minutes most nights. He’s having a quietly strong season: over 13 points, around 2.5 threes, and more than a steal per game on good percentages. He won’t win you a week by himself, but he won’t lose it either. Solid across-the-board contributor.

Jamal Shead, Raptors

Shead has been a surprise. In his last couple of games, he’s averaged around three threes, nine assists, and 13 points, all while coming off the bench. The minutes aren’t huge, but the per-minute production is. If you’re short on assists or need guard stats without tanking efficiency, he’s a sneaky pickup.

Bilal Coulibaly, Wizards

This might be my favorite long-term add on the list. Coulibaly has been banged up recently, but before that he was filling the box score in multiple ways. The Wizards have zero reason to limit him, and once things click again, the steals, rebounds, and defensive stats will pile up. If you’re hunting upside rather than just surviving this week, he’s worth the gamble.

Justin Champagnie, Wizards

Another Wizard, another solid stream. Over the past two weeks he’s around one three, double-digit points, eight rebounds, plus a steal and a block per game. That’s clean, useful production. He’s not flashy, but if you just need to stay afloat and add value across multiple categories, Champagnie is a safe play for this stretch.

Jordan Clarkson, Knicks

Clarkson has had a weird season, mostly because of fluctuating minutes. Still, he’s had multiple double-digit scoring games lately, hit some threes, and chipped in steals. With a back-to-back coming up, he should see more run than on a normal night. If the guard pool is thin in your league and you need points and threes, he’s a reasonable bet, just know the floor isn’t great.

Before You Go

That’s it for the second half of Week 9. All of these guys play three more games, which already puts you ahead in a week like this. Just make sure you match the pickup to your category needs. Fantasy basketball isn’t easy, it’s basically chess with box scores. Good luck, and hope you lock up that matchup.

I used the league schedule grid and the latest injury updates as references, so all of these picks are based on real opportunity and game volume.
