Week 7 Waiver Pickups: Late-Week Swings That Might Win You the Matchup

Hey everyone, great evening to all of you. Hope your NBA Fantasy matchups are going well and that you’re on the way to pulling out those victories. Personally, I really need this win this week. I didn’t start well because I focused more on building for the future instead of investing in the early weeks. I went for upside swings, long-term value, and at least it paid off with me landing Derik Queen and others. But now we’re already deep into the week,  honestly closer to three days left than four if you didn’t make your moves before Thursday night,  so these pickups matter a lot right now.

Noah Clowney,  Nets

If he’s available in your league, I highly recommend picking him up. He has two more games this week, and honestly, out of all the players here, he might be the best long-term option. He’s a young forward on a tanking team with real upside. His field-goal percentage has improved, his free throws are very good, he shoots threes, he scores, he rebounds, and he’s only going to get better as the Nets fully lean into this tanking season. When a team is this bad, young guys with upside get every opportunity. He’s trending the right way.

Andre Drummond,  Sixers

He’s been playing more as the season goes on, and with Joel Embiid being so unpredictable this year,  in and out of the lineup, limited minutes,  Drummond becomes a very safe play. He’ll give you 10+ points, double-digit rebounds, great field goal percentage, and honestly, he even improved his three-pointer. Wouldn’t surprise me if he hits one again. And most importantly, he plays three more games this week. All against teams that are not exactly strong at the moment, especially injury-wise. That’s major streaming value.

Egor Demin,  Nets

Very similar story to Clowney since they’re on the same team. Over the past week he’s averaging 14 points, almost 3 threes, over 4 assists, plus a steal and a block per game,  and only 2.3 turnovers. For a rookie guard? That’s impressive. He was the 8th overall pick for a reason. And again, the Nets are deep in tank mode, so he’s going to get the keys more and more. Full green light for development.

Kyle Filipowski,  Jazz

He can cover both PF and C, and for a center, shooting almost 90% from the free-throw line this past week is incredible. He’s giving you around 11 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists,  useful across the board. Season-long FT% is lower, around 70%, but with low attempts, so it doesn’t hurt much. He also plays three more games this week, and his minutes have slowly increased compared to how the season started. Could definitely be worth keeping longer if he keeps trending up.

Before You Leave…

Good luck in this week’s matchup. Make sure to use these tips based on your team’s actual needs and your matchup situation. Don’t waste time adding players who help in categories you’ve already lost. Go after the ones you can still flip or the ones where you’re holding a slim lead. And let me know in the comments which one of these (or someone else) you’re picking up for the final stretch of Week 7.
