Okay, welcome to the midweek report for players who could potentially win you your NBA Fantasy League matchup. This edition takes into account the updated injury situations across several teams and, most importantly, the games remaining. This week is fairly regular in that sense, with almost every team playing two more games from Thursday night through Sunday. Still, those two-game swings can decide matchups-especially when you pick up the right players.
Vince Williams Jr., Memphis Grizzlies
Vince Williams Jr. is my number one addition, of course, only if he’s available in your league. The nice advantage with him is that he’s eligible at both guard and forward, which makes lineup-building smoother. And with the Memphis roster being what it is right now, Ja Morant still in and out of lineups, and others underperforming, Williams has carved out a significant and consistent role. He’s flirted with triple-doubles a couple of times already, and he racks up assists and rebounds, which personally are the categories that catch my eye the fastest. With two games remaining against the Clippers and the Kings, he’s in a great spot to help.
Peyton Watson, Denver Nuggets
Peyton Watson is another strong candidate this week. His minutes have increased because of injuries to two crucial Nuggets players who play practically the same positions as him- Christian Braun and Aaron Gordon. As a result, Watson’s role has taken a noticeable jump. He contributes in points, rebounds, and his field-goal percentage stays in a nice range. I mean, how can it not, when Jokic is on your team and the Nuggets, in general, are playing really good basketball! He’s one of the biggest beneficiaries of that ecosystem and should continue producing.
Keldon Johnson, San Antonio Spurs
Keldon Johnson is actually very similar to Watson in terms of stats. He’s on the Spurs, and with Wemby being out and some of the other wings getting back into rhythm (like Sochan), Johnson has been providing strong scoring and solid rebounding. His field-goal percentage has also been better than you’d expect from him historically. He’s not the flashiest add, but he’s reliable and fits well for a midweek push.
Noah Clowney, Brooklyn Nets
He has been playing better over the past two weeks. He’s averaging around 18 points with three-plus threes per game, and he’s strong in the stocks (steals and blocks). You’d expect more rebounds from him as a relatively tall wing, but the biggest concern is the field-goal percentage. It’s been better lately, but it still sits just under 40% for the season. Still, if you need points, threes, and defensive stats, he’s a very real option this week.
Jordan Goodwin, Phoenix Suns
Last but not least, we’ve got Goodwin from the Suns. That team has a whole list of injuries right now, Green on a long-term one and Allen on a short-term one. Goodwin provides all-around stats, and his biggest edge is steals. I personally got him for this week since most of the players above weren’t available and I didn’t want Clowney’s field-goal percentage tanking my FG battle with my rival. I don’t plan on holding him longer than that.
Final Thoughts
That’s it for now. Hopefully, you all win your matchups this week. Don’t underestimate these midweek pickups-fantasy basketball matchups are often decided by a few rebounds, a couple of steals, or one good game. These players can genuinely swing it.
And you’re all welcome to like and comment below which one of these would be your first addition to grab this week, if they haven’t already been picked up in your league.
